We see a large variety of sports injuries at our clinics, and these types injuries are the most varied that we see. This will include muscle injuries and strains, joint sprains, tendon and ligament injuries, and can affect any joint from top to toe.
These injuries can all be assessed in clinic either by a orthopaedic examination with one of our therapists, or may be suitable for diagnostic ultrasound scan. This can be a fantastic way of determining the extent of your injury, visualising the extent and size of the injury and therefore giving a much more accurate level of prognosis – when you’ll likely be able to return to sport. Once this has been determined, your therapist will work with you to decide on the most appropriate treatment plan, based on their findings, and your goals with your specific sport in mind.
We employ a wide variety of treatment techniques for the injuries detailed above. All treatment is tailored to you and will be as sport specific as we can make it through your rehabilitation journey. We can also provide you with a home or gym exercise plan to complete in between sessions which is printed out or emailed to you using our state-of-the art PhysioTec software. Everything done in the treatment session, and your exercises will all have the aim of returning to sport as quickly, and safely as possible.
Alongside your exercises we can offer a wide range of treatments in-clinic. These normally include joint mobilisations and manual therapy, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, acupuncture and dry needling, electrotherapy. We would always also use our on-site rehabilitation gym to guide you through sport specific drills and exercises towards the end of your rehabilitation when you are almost ready to return to sport.
For more persistent tendon problems caused by sport, Radial Shockwave therapy is generally always recommended. To read more about this, click here.
